Helicobacter pylori is a common bacterial infection that affects the stomach. It is associated with inflammation of the stomach (gastritis), duodenal and gastric ulcer, stomach cancer and lymphoma. To watch the Ulcer video please click here: assets/documents/Benign_stomach_ulcer.wmv

The infection is best confirmed by biopsy at gastroscopy or by special Breath Test. The standard therapy is a combination of a Proton Pump Inhibitor and two antibiotics (usually clarithromycin and amoxicillin) taken for 7 days.
