Heartburn is common in the community affecting 1 in 5 adults with the trend for more women to be affected than men. Heartburn affects individual ability to eat and drink normally and interferes with their quality of life particularly because of nocturnal symptoms.
The medical treatment of GORD has the objective of
1/ Choosing symptomatic relief
2/ Reducing the risk of complications and improving the quality of life
